- Benefit Concert. Since August 1999 the people who once lived on
Manila's largest garbage dump have the opportunity to change the direction of their lives by support services offered by the "North Bay Christian Fellowship". Some of the services that are offered are, Early intervention education for children from the ages from pre school to High school.
Over the past 50 years the 40,000 people who Lived on "Smokey Mountain Garbage dump" never had the opportunity to be educated. So all who lived there scavenged from the garbage to live. Some have told stories of eating dead domestic animals that had died and were dumped at the site. Now because of the very dedicated people of the North Bay Christian Fellowship and sponsorship that now comes primarily out of the Sunshine Coast area lives are being dramatically changed because of basic school education.
Another programme that is happening is Sponsoring mature age students to attend college or university to either start courses or complete them so that they can find secure jobs outside the dumping site of Smokey Mountain. Success Stories like Joel who graduates this month as a Nautical Engineer. He has said that now he has the opportunity to provide for his family an income and a clean safe environment for his children.
On the 18th April those on the Sunshine Coast have the opportunity to support the North Bay Christian Fellowship and their work in Manila Philippines by attending a benefit concert with some of Australia's most talented musicians. Please join us in a special benefit concert with
Lisa Reynolds and Steve
Apirana, and support band 'State of Mind' at the Noosa Baptist Church on Wednesday 18th April at
7:30pm. Tickets are $10 and all Children under 12 are free. Pastor Danny Besoro one of the pastors from the North Bay Christian Fellowship will be in attendance. We invite you to attend with Ps Danny and others as we make a difference for our Friends in Manila. Help us make a difference and why not bring a friend to this family event.

South Bank on 26 April at 10:00pm. Come and check us out and scream loud cause they're measuring how good we are by crowd response.
We're also playing the Australian Gospel Music Festival. 4:10 pm on Good Friday on the Shed Stage at Queens Park. Come and give us some chocolate since its Easter. And stay for the music if you want to.
HAIR NEWS: Steve is growing back the afro after what we are
referring to as "the clipper incident". Andrew now has dreds but currently looks like Sideshow Bob from the Simpsons - please keep him in prayer (they just need time to flatten out a bit - the dreds I mean). Mikey is still blackish and scruffy - looking to go short when his hairdresser gets back. Charlie too is still scruffy but has to neaten it up shortly for his teaching internship - how totally un-rock is that!!

- See You At The Pole. Scripture Union
(SU) would love for you to get involved in this. Grab some adults and leaders and pray in a public place for your
school. The act of prayer is engaging the power of our awesome, loving and faithful God! ... and sometimes he is just waiting for us to pray. Check out 2 Chronicles 7:14.
The idea is
around 3 years old in Australia. It came from America where religious activity has been outlawed in schools. The constitution, however, gives people permission and the right to pray around their flagpole. Hence
"See You At The Pole". Non-high
school students are encouraged to get together in public places to pray at
the same time as the students.
Thursday 10 May 2001, 7:30am, "See You At The Pole 2001" - High schools students across Australia are gathering at their school to pray publicly around the flagpole. Our schools need Jesus! There has never been a greater time to pray than now! All info at:
www.syatpaustralia.com.
