27.11.01 - CD raises money for Albany Creek High chaplaincy program.
From Chris Mundy.

$2 will be donated to the work of chaplaincy at Albany Creek High school for every copy of Chris Mundy's "Welcome to the World" CD purchased from the Top 10 Shop at Albany Creek Shopping Village.

Chaplaincy in Queensland state high schools has been operating since the early 90’s and has grown to over 100 schools across the state. Chaplain Chris is employed at Albany Creek High for 3days per week and plays an integral part of the school’s support network. With the pressures of schooling, family breakdown, peers, drugs and alcohol abuse, students often need to talk in confidence with someone who is not an authority figure to help them make wise decisions and find additional help where necessary. Chaplains provide this frontline support through pastoral care to the school community. Chaplain Chris is also involved in many preventative programs in partnership with local churches and the Albany Creek Community. He has assisted the Pine Rivers support services in establishing a referral system for youth at risk of self harm and suicide, the YMCA with a program reducing crime in local parks, the PCYC in advertising dance parties and promoting youth activities and groups in all local churches.

Chaplain Chris also participates in many special functions in the school, having spiritual input in graduations, formals, classes and also conducting numerous activity based lunchtime and prayer groups with the assistance of local youth workers. Religious and moral beliefs play an important role in the Albany Creek community and most believe that it is important for students to have a ‘bit of religion’ in order to instill important lifelong values of respect, justice, ethics and love in a world needing such.

Chaplaincy in State Schools receives no funding from the government or Education department. This service is solely provided by donations from local churches, P&C and individuals who believe that Chaplaincy is an important service to provide at Albany Creek High School. If donations increase, the Chaplain can work at the school for more than 3 days per week.

You can support the work of Chaplaincy in the High School by grabbing a copy of Chaplain Chris’ CD. For every copy of Chris Mundy’s ‘Welcome to the World’ that is sold at the Top Ten Shop at Albany Creek Shopping Village, $2 will be donated to the work of Chaplaincy at Albany Creek State High School.

Songs from Chris Mundy's CD are recieving airplay from the ABC and many community radio stations across Australia. He has recently scored highly in the FM96.5 Creative Challenge and the Australain Songwriter's Association of Australia Competitions.

Alternatively, you can make a donation directly to SU Queensland, 800 Kingsford Smith Drive, Eagle Farm Qld 4009. Please mark your donation "Schools Ministry Fund – Albany Creek State High School". Credit Card donations can be made by calling 3868 1344.
