Chris Mundy News

Chris writes...

I'm in the process of recording my new album which will be a 10 song release. I was originally hoping to have it finished by May/June, but my producer Stuart Stuart is taking a couple of months off to work on an advertising project, so it may be a while yet.

I'm a lot more involved in the recording process this time. 'Leave' was a little different cause I basically gave Stuart the songs and he went away, came up with the goods, and then I laid the vocals on. But with this new project, I'm there for every part of the process from designing loops to the end product.

The 4 songs we've recorded so far are sounding great!!!! There's heaps more guitars (some tracks having anything up to 4 guitar parts), so that's one thing that's different. The brisbane guitar scene (ala Rhubarb, Battered Fish, Dumpster, Tonjip) has obviously influenced me a lot in this area. But its also more pop too. There's some funky loops and bass in nearly all of tracks, which has been influenced by Moby and Bombfunk MC sort of stuff.

But the best part about it is the songwriting is so much stronger than 'Leave'. Its like I'm just starting to really get the hang of this songwriting stuff and coming out with some pearls!!!!!!! 'Welcome to the World' is a corker, and I'm thinking of making it the title track. Its about the nervousness of a first time father. 'Make it home' is another great song, that has a chorus that absolutely kicks butt.
