03.06.02 - CCC goes Higher.
From Wes Jay, Woodlands
Media.
Christian City Church Oxford Falls Sydney (CCC) took the Australian market
by storm in 2001 with its groundbreaking album Prophesy. The album shot straight to the top of the Christian music retail charts nationally where
it stayed for four months running! This year, CCC is blazing the way to
even greater heights in praise and worship with the release of its new live
album Higher.
Higher is energetic, dynamic [k1]and powerful; in short, this is a remarkable album carrying the presence of God. A live album of grand
proportions, Higher invokes a sense of excitement and breakthrough. The
atmosphere on the night of the live recording was electric, with a stage
that included 150 musicians and singers, and a congregation of around 2000
people who danced, cheered, and joined their voices and their hearts in powerful praise.
CCC's music director, Chris O'Brien (producer, worship leader and key songwriter behind Prophesy) spent months bringing together the team for the
Higher project. At just 21, Chris's talent took him to New York on a five-year recording/publishing contract with a Japanese record company. During that time, he collaborated with artists and musicians including the
Billy Joel band, the Whitney Houston band, and the Phil Collins band. Chris also worked alongside writers for Celine Dion, John Farnham and
Taylor Dane. Combining his world-class experience with obedience to the call of God, Chris has been raised up as an outstanding leader in praise
and worship and an asset to the church. Chris is an exceptional songwriter
performer and producer.
Chris's expertise creates an atmosphere of excellence that draws musicians
and singers of outstanding quality.
The team for Higher includes Jeff Crabtree on keyboards (professional musician, having performed on 74 recording projects, winner of 4
international awards for songwriting and one for production), Katya Winspear as lead vocalist (renowned performer and recording vocalist,
session singer for Australia's TV and ad agencies), John Waller (Drummer
Avion and Youth Alive NSW), Ryan Smith as lead guitarist (founding member,
songwriter and performer for youth band CCC Youth/Receiver and lead guitarist on Prophesy), and a host of other renowned and highly skilled
musicians and singers.
To record and engineer Higher, CCC brought in experts from around Australia
and overseas. Peter 'Doc' Wood (monitors for the Sydney Olympics, 2001 Arias and many more) gathered a team of experts who could capture the
moment. George Gorga and John Simpson, who worked on recording projects such as Savage Garden, The Corrs, Kylie Minogue, Margaret Urlich and much
more, were responsible for recording and mixing the album.
Industry experts have given the album strong praise. For example: "HIGHER is a landmark album that fuses the amazing song writing talents of
worship leader Chris O'Brien with the brilliantly talented CCC worship band." Matthew Bonson - National Music Buyer for Koorong, Australia's
largest Christian retailer.
Higher is now available on CD and video, with accompanying backing tracks
and music book. |
