From Wes Jay, The
Rock Across Australia.
Parachute Music recording artist
Parachute Band brings another helping of Kiwi Praise and Worship music to Australia with its new album
'Glorious'. In less than a month, the album is already on the best-seller lists from both Word and Koorong, and is #7 on The Rock Across Australia music chart (week of 13 October).
In the US, 'Almighty', the first single from 'Glorious', debuted at #7 on Christian Radio Weekly's Praise & Worship chart (week of 13 October) and is securing adds on Adult Contemporary, Inspirational and CHR formats.
'Glorious', following on the heels of the band's successful 2002 release 'Amazing', marks the New Zealand-based band's sixth album. The music from the project ranges from traditional ballads to full-on groove and allows the band to adapt to many different performance environments including churches, festivals and conferences. Parachute Band's versatile music is popular in churches throughout the world and songs such as 'Everything That Has Breath', 'All My Life', 'Complete', 'Amazing' and 'All the Earth' are fast becoming worship standards.
"The Parachute Band brings an infectious blend of rock, soul and reverence to the Praise & Worship experience," comments
700 Club Executive Producer Andy
Freeman. "They're like a kaleidoscope; always fresh, new and inviting. Their gift is to move the listener through a full range of emotions and thought until you find yourself in personal worship and honoring praise to our Lord."
Parachute Band, formed in 1996 as the house band to lead worship at New Zealand's Parachute Music Festival, has garnered numerous accolades since their debut release in 1997. The band has received five Gold albums and won three New Zealand Music & Entertainment Awards for Gospel Album of the Year (for 'Love' in 2000, 'Always and Forever' in 1998 and 'You Alone' in 1997).

17.10.03 -
6across: guest appearance, new single & this weekend.
From 6across.
This week saw Renata Curnow,
6across vocalist, recording her guest cello contribution to
Memphis Joe's forthcoming CD. Renata's appearance
on 'For The Underdogs', a song said to have an "organic rhythm all of its own",
resulted when 6across cellist Weide Curnow
was unavailable to do the recording. The results should be well worth
listening out for. It is not known at this stage when the CD will be available.
6across have completed recording their first single 'Pieces That Didn't
Fit', a song about discovering that the answers to life are found alone in Jesus. The mixing is expected to be finished this coming week and the finished
product will be made available as a Promo CD Single and for download as an MP3. Keep both eyes open for it!
This weekend sees 6across heading to Hervey Bay as special guests at Gympie Community Church's family camp.
Geoff Rankin, 6across guitarist, is following this by heading straight to Crow's Nest to play a solo show at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 21-23 Toowoomba Rd, Crow's Nest. It's part of St. Luke's Sunday night (Oct 19) youth service and goes from 7pm to 8pm. All are welcome and entry is free. For info contact Pastor Frank Rasenberger on 07 4698 1309.
Check out the ongoing work that is www.6across.com. It's pretty snazzy and is going to be a lot bigger very
soon. |

17.10.03 -
Rivertribe - music for the world.
From Wes Jay, The
Rock Across Australia.
Rivertribe's music takes listeners on a journey to places only conceived in the imagination. Now Rivertribe's music is taking the group to places they never imagined. Places like India.
Mike Lane reports on day three of the group's Indian tour.
"It's raining this morning, raining like I've never seen. Not even Tennessee rain can beat this," he says. "The streets are awash with muddy flood waters, canals and drains swelled to overflowing. We're away early for the five-hour bus ride to Chennai, a city of 6.5 million people. The highway is treacherous, potholed and chaotic. It's an obstacle course of ramshackle buses, trucks and the ever present pedestrian traffic, walking way-too-close to the passing parade. The five-hour trip took nine hours, covering a distance of about 190 miles. I've never had so many near-death experiences! Overtaking in the face of oncoming trucks is a national past-time. This evening we play at the largest AOG church in India. We're looking forward to meeting new people and sharing our music," Mike concludes.
After ten days in India, Rivertribe will perform a three-week stint at Disney World in Florida next month before returning to Australia for the
National Gospel Happening in Canberra, 21-23 November.

03.10.03 - New Lisa
Reynolds CD ready for release.
From Lisa Reynolds.
I am overjoyed to announce that the much anticipated release of the new 'Fall Under Grace' album is now only weeks away (depending of course on the duplication process). The new album has about 11 songs on it, however 4 are new ones, which means that the old CDs of 'Fall Under Grace' (released in 2000) are now collector's items. Once again, I got to work with
Craig Ross on the new production and the result is outstanding! The all-new revamped version of 'Fall Under Grace' has been, in my opinion and that of all who have heard it so far, enhanced and complimented by the new songs and the production is outstanding, enabling the album to more than hold it's own on the international stage, if that is where God wants us to go! And we believe that He does! For those of you who know me well, you will know that I want to reach as many people as I can for the rest of my life through whatever means God sees fit to use me. So needless to say, these are very exciting times for me personally, my family and all involved with this ministry.
