25.07.03 - TRAA Song Of The Week - 'I Need Your Love'.
From Wes Jay, The
Rock Across Australia.
Australian music is really cookin'. 'Uncovered', the new album from
the jive
express, is #7 on TRAA's Indie Top 20 chart, and the song 'I Need Your Love' is #21 on TRAA's Top 30 this week. Guitarist
Ruairidh Anderson says the theme of the song could be interpreted as a "conversion experience".
"'I Need Your Love' really highlights the fact that everyone who is separated from the love of God needs to be reunited with him through his son, Jesus Christ," Anderson says. "But on a deeper level, the song reminds us just how much we need God's continual love in our own lives. For me, it highlights the fact that I, as a forgiven and accepted child of God, still REALLY need his love -
daily." |

18.07.03 - Randy Stonehill
update.
From Chocolate Dog.
Randy Stonehill unfortunately will not be touring Australia this year. We hope the to see him in the near future.
His new CD is probably the best recording he has ever done and it should do very well for him. Randy has dropped the standard mix of great and goofy songs, and delivered a mature introspective album like none we have heard from him in years. Perhaps the most memorable performance will be the 'Remember When' song Randy wrote about the 70’s Jesus Music scene. He is joined by a veritable All-Star
line-up who were there for it all, including old friends
Larry Norman, Phil Keaggy, Noel Paul Stookey (of
Peter, Paul & Mary), Barry McGuire, Russ Taff and
Annie Herring. Great stuff.

18.07.03 - Sonfest 2004.
From From Dale Bray, Sonfest.
Can you believe it is July already? And yes the count down to Sonfest is on! Next
year's event is going to be by far the biggest Sonfest yet. We are planing more activities, more sports, more speakers and more bands.
We have changed the Sonfest weekend for next year. Sonfest dates are Thursday Jan 15th through to Sat Jan 17th. These dates do not clash with Planet Shakers. So if you are as keen as I, we can go to both and make it a summer to remember.
At present I am in the USA to finalise the line-up. As always we will have a couple of big name acts, a few popular energetic rock acts and some new artists that have not played in Australia before. Please keep us in your prayers over the next couple of weeks as we confirm the bands to come down under.
The official launch of Sonfest 04 is September 1st where we will launch both our radio campaign and website. Thanks again for your support as we endeavour to continue to change people's lives through the gift of music and
evangelism.

From Wes Jay, The
Rock Across Australia.
Hillsong's latest album 'Hope' jumps straight to #3 on ARIA's Top 50 Album chart this week. The success of Hillsong's music in the mainstream arena this week provides Christian radio with the opportunity to air Christian music the (general) public is talking about. With the increased attention on Christian music from talkback radio, TV plus daily and music press, this is the time radio programmers should consider breaking strict formats to enhance the sound and appeal of their station. Songs like

04.07.03 - TRAA Song Of The Week.
From Wes Jay, The
Rock Across Australia.
Jaci Velasquez burst onto the Christian music scene as a fresh-faced 16 year old in the mid-90s. She quickly became one of Christian music's top new talents, winning Dove awards for New Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year (twice), combined with gold or platinum selling albums for each of her releases. At 21, Jaci's world came crushing down when her parents separated then divorced. She blamed herself.
"Now more than ever, I want to use my platform to comfort people whose hearts are breaking," says Velasquez.
'You're My God', the first radio single from
'Unspoken', was originally titled 'Oh My God', one of Jaci's
favourite expressions.
"I was sitting in the studio with two of my writers, Bridget Benenate and Matthew Gerrard, when Bridget came up with the idea for this song," Jaci says. "She asked me to tell her all the good things I say to God when I'm talking to Him, so we wrote a song about all the amazing things about God, from creation to everyday miracles," she
says. |
