28.03.03 - 6across rock.

From 6across.

New band 6across are looking to rock across Brisbane. With their original acoustic rock being well received over the last 2 years as Geoff Rankin Band, the band have added drummer Anthony Edwards and keyboardist Gayle Rankin and are ready to do things bigger and better than ever. Find out more about 6across here. 6across will rock the eggs out of any rabbits at AGMF this Easter.

28.03.03 - Citrus' debut album ready for release.

From Citrus.

The much anticipated debut album of Citrus 'Adam Ate the Mango' will be officially launched at a series of three concerts across Sydney (29 March, 5 April & 12 April), followed by two performances at the Australian Gospel Music Festival in Toowoomba over the Easter long weekend.

Described as "Acoustic Rock with a Fresh Folky Edge", 'Adam Ate the Mango' utilises both unique and conventional instruments to present an ageless message in a fresh and inspiring way. The songs speak of hope in a less than perfect world.

'Adam Ate the Mango' contains 11 tracks and was recorded and mixed at Aphek Studio with Greg Dixon. The album was produced by Tim Bower and Greg Dixon and mastered by Don Bartley at Studios 301. Further information regarding the album, including MP3 samples, is available at http://citrus.lovesmusic.com.

21.03.03 - AB post-USA trip news.

From Alabaster Box.

This January saw Alabaster Box hit the jet-set life in a big way. The tour started with a blitz performance in Boonah at Sonfest 2003, and the next morning saw them heading over to New Zealand for a one-show-only appearance at the Parachute Festival. With NZ out of the way, the band jumped on the USA express and toured for four weeks in California, Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee. On the way home they squeezed in enough time for a quick three-show stop-over in England, with two shows in Brighton and one in Swindon.

As if that wasn't enough, the Box swung back through the Gold Coast for a mere four days off, and headed straight to Melbourne to headline the Forest Edge Festival.

21.03.03 - Lads dads marvel.

From The Rock Across Australia.

Last week we congratulated Lads lead singer Mark Millard and his wife Andrea on the birth of their baby girl. Within hours more congratulations were due for the group's keyboards/trumpet player Chris White and his wife Anna-Maree on the birth of their baby boy Harrison.

There's no truth in the rumour the guys are planning to change their name to the 'Dads'!

21.03.03 - EMI and churches unite to bring 'Peace & Unity' to mainstream retail.

From EMI Music Australia.

EMI Music Australia is excited to announce the first compilation of Australian Praise and Worship music to be released to mainstream record stores on March 24, 2003.

Churches across Australia have joined together with EMI to produce the 'Peace & Unity' album, a compilation of the best praise and worship tracks selected by these churches. For the first time in Australia, this album will be available through all good music shops around the country. EMI are confident that this will set a precedent for Christian music becoming more accessible through mainstream retailers.

In these times of uncertainty in the world, and even in our country - the threat of war looming, drought, flooding - it is a timely production. The album draws its listeners into the knowledge that, despite all the outward troubles, God is still on His throne, He is still in control and is always there for us in our difficulties. Ultimately, only by connecting with God can we ever find the peace that we all seek after and long for. 'Everything's Alright', the radio single and closing track on the album, sums this approach to life up nicely.

John O'Donnell, Managing Director of EMI Music Australia says, "EMI is excited to be involved in the 'Peace & Unity' CD. We believe there are many people who will benefit from an album such as this and it is timely that the church community unites to show Australians that inward peace can be possible, through God, despite all external circumstances."

The album includes the best songs from some of the major church movements in Australia. These churches' albums have independently sold over 10,000 units alone, with little or no radio play or mainstream push. The album also includes songs from multi-platinum Australian Grammy award-winners Newsboys and Rebecca St James.

21.03.03 - Funky Sun on Sat.

From Graham, Mullet TV.

Well the Funky Sun is under new management and we're in there on Saturday night for the first time with the new manager - so its going to be interesting!

This time round we feature 6 bands that have played the Funky Sun already:
>> 16 year old Danielle - she also sang at Movie World for us at Christmas. Danielle has real talent.
>> Luke and Friends - Luke plays a mean acoustic guitar. His last time with us was memorable.
>> Lotus (Jenelle Lawrence) - previously known as Puretone, Jenelle's group has played several times at the Funky Sun. She has an awesome voice!
>> Leigh Wallis - Leigh is an old friend of Mullet TV and the Funky Sun and we welcome him back. His CD has just been released in Indonesia.
>> Translucent (was Josh Kerr Band) - as the Josh Kerr Band these guys have played the Funky Sun before too, and we rate them as the most talented band in SE Qld that no one knows about - but we're working on changing that!
>> The very funky Embryo - played twice at the Funky Sun and both times have gone off big time. These guys can rock, funk or do just about anything else they decide to do!
>> Pacemaker - new to the Funky Sun, Pacemaker have played gigs for us in Brizzy before. They are loud - but hey - so are we!

So come on down. The Funky Sun is a great place to meet friends and have some fun while you soak up the music. For final details check the web site www.mullettv.com.

21.03.03 - RSJ at the White House.

From The Rock Across Australia.

Rebecca St James received a special invitation earlier this month to join members of the Bush administration for breakfast and lunch. Members of the Faith-Based and Community Initiatives team as well as the Senate prompted the invitations. Rebecca discussed her support of the Bush administration's initiative on abstinence and her long-time ministry commitment to this message plus other issues affecting American youth. "It was quite awe-inspiring to be in The White House in such close proximity to the Oval Office, especially at this time," Rebecca says.

14.03.03 - Squipplepippy - The End.

From Squipplepippy (Petey, Danny, Marty, Pauly).

Just when you've worked out how to spell and pronounce 'Squipplepippy' correctly, we have decided to call it a day. The decision among us is mutual - it's freeing us up to chase other musical projects, careers, passions and whatever our hearts desire at this time. I'm sure something musical will come up out of this all, so don't fear, we'll still all be around.

At this time we'd just like to thank everyone that has supported the band throughout the last 5 years. You have all been a great support and inspiration to us. Also a big thanks to all the bands we've had the pleasure of sharing the stage with - we've enjoyed every show. Toupee Records thank you for releasing our EP and getting it out there.

All that said, we'd really love for you to join us, if possible, at The Alley on March 28th so we can say farewell and thank you in person. Thank you, good night and keep rockin'.

14.03.03 - International mystery girl.

From The Rock Across Australia.

Congratulations to Lads lead singer Mark Millard and his wife Andrea on the birth of their daughter Ruby. Weighing seven pounds 13.5, Ruby was born on Tuesday.

In typical Lads style, Mark says the highlight so far is Ruby's first words. "It's hard to believe it isn't it, we think she is a very early developer," he says. "She keeps saying in a very high-pitched voice 'ark!' (though some people have suggested to us it's actually more like 'aaaaaaaarh!' but we don't think so)," he adds.

After the release of the group's latest single 'International Mystery Man', most assumed the baby was going to be a boy!
