Rumours are...

year pc3 has performed to 250,000 people across the USA.
Squipplepippy are playing at the Alley bar on Saturday 01 June showcasing a bunch of new material.
Five to Midnight is about to fly to the USA to spend ten weeks working with Keynote Communications, a well-established music ministry.
Left Lane Ends set to go into the studio in May/June to record their EP.
Nagasaki are currently recording a new CD.
Justin
Mark's new 4 song EP "Love Conquers All" was officially released yesterday and new website will be on-line in a few days @
www.justinmark.com.
Atoned have been busy in the studio recording their new
CD.
Aliki (a new female solo artist) is in the studio recording songs co-written with
Steven Dix. Andrew Kennedy from
Pseudo Llama is recording the guitar parts.
The new
Void If Removed CD sounds fantastic and the band are videoing a
film clip or two in the coming weeks.
The response to
Distinguished Guests' latest CD
'Chicks R Mean' has been so good they have run out of stock.
A small child was eaten by the
Rocfish mascot

One of these rumours isn't true.

31.05.02 - 'Acoustic Atomic Cathedral' went off with a bang.
From BCC HQ.
The 'Acoustic Atomic Cathedral' concert held last Saturday (25 May) night
at Albert St Uniting in the city was an fantastic evening of unplugged music to satisfy almost every taste. There wasn't a person in the cathedral that went away thinking they hadn't got at least $6 value from the $5 concert! Some people were even rating it one of 'THE' concerts of the year!
The all-acoustic performances from each the featured artists were superb. From the stripped back, usually 'in your face'
Void If Removed to the 4-piece vocal harmonies of
CVB, 'Acoustic Atomic Cathedral' was a 2 hour musical
extravaganza. The 9 artists that performed on the night were... Paradox,
Justin Mark,
Void If
Removed, Arielle,
Distinguished
Guests, Celebration Vocal
Band, Just Listen, Daniel Philippe and
Half Way Out who treated us to a brand new song based on a recent drive home from the coast. A blown out tyre never sounded so good!
A number of people came to the door for a look because they heard the music while walking down Albert St. One such elderly man (who will be referred to from now on as Mr Rude) was very chatty until, after asking if there was going to be any
Mozart, the response was that it wasn't very likely. Mr Rude left
immediately without a goodbye gesture of any sort. Daniel
Philippe, one of the following acts & part-time bouncer, happened to hear the whole conversation and started off his
performance with a beautiful Mozart rendition. If only Mr Rude had have known that, we might have gotten $5 out of him :) And that's the sort of night it was... a night where Mozart, piano & clarinet solos, beautiful melodies, harmonies & screams all fitted together and filled the cathedral with a joyful noise.
Hallelujah!
The concert was put on by BrisbaneChristianChat.com, the
Lion's Den Cafe & Cathedrals
Week. It will hopefully be the first of a series of similar concerts to help raise the profile of our local Christian artists/bands and provide the people of SEQld with an opportunity to see some of our best talent - intimate & unplugged.

24.05.02 - pc3 releases New Map Of The World.
From Wes Jay, Woodlands
Media.
Sometimes, try as you might, you just can't find the right word. Other times, as is the case with the music and members of the
Paul Colman Trio, too many words come to mind. Words like direct, honest, fun, energetic, no-nonsense, electric and open.
Those adjectives come into play thanks to the commitment the members of the Paul Colman Trio (guitarist/songwriter
Paul Colman, bassist Grant Norsworthy and drummer
Phil Gaudion) made to each other long ago as friends and brothers in Christ first, and musicians second; a commitment clearly reflected on their
Essential Records debut, New Map Of The
World.
The Paul Colman Trio got its start in 1998 when Colman, who had already released two well-received solo albums in his native Australia, recruited drummer Gaudion for a trip to the United States. Upon returning home, the duo decided to add a bass player, turning to
long-time friend Norsworthy, and the affectionately dubbed PC3 was born. The band went on to become the most successful independent Christian artist in Australia's history, dominating radio and garnering the title of Artist of the Year in 2000 and 2001, as determined by
The Rock Across Australia charts.
"There was this chemistry from the word 'go' when we started playing together. No one was fighting anybody else musically, and there were already 30 or 40 songs that I'd written that worked well with this setting," Colman says. "The collaboration that happened when we came together, that to me was what made the magic."
"Our first gig was in front of 3,000 people at the Melbourne Zoo, and it started to take off from there," Gaudion recalls.

17.05.02 - The nation's largest Gospel music event seeking artists.
From Australian Gospel Music
Festival.
The Australian Gospel Music Festival is now seeking applications from artists and performers for the 2003
Festival (18 - 20 April). The AGMF will start confirming artists for the 2003 AGMF from August this year and artists from all over Australia are encouraged to apply to be considered for the event.
Festival Coordinator Isaac Moody trusts that artists will apply for the AGMF before it's too late.
"Last year there were a significant number of artists that missed out on the chance to perform because we did not receive their application on time. We want to ensure that every artist that applies is given an equal opportunity to be considered."
Artist applications for the 2003 Festival close on Wednesday 31st July.
"Artists need to be aware that even though they may have performed at previous Festivals, they must still reapply for the AGMF 2003," Mr Moody said.
The 2003 Festival is shaping up to be an exciting event, with additional performance slots, larger venues, longer performance times and significant increases in crowd sizes.
Artist application forms are available by phoning (07) 46383911 or emailing
applications@gospelmusicfestival.com. |

Nerida (the Groundswell co-ordinator) had planned to inform bands by now whether or not their application were successful however she has been forced to wait until her computer has been fixed before she can do so. Media.
The highlight for Aussies visiting Nashville, Tennessee (USA) during
Gospel Music Week was the Paul Colman Trio performance with
Third Day at the Amsouth Amphitheatre on Saturday 20 April. pc3 played to more than 16 200 people in what has become the biggest Christian concert ever staged in Music City.
In typical Colman fashion, the crowd roared when he appeared on stage with
BeBo Norman and Third Day to sing a verse of "On the Road Again" - the
Willie Nelson tune. Full marks to sound engineer
David Jacques on his outstanding live mixing! The trio's new album
'New Map of the World' produced by Monroe Jones
(U2, Chris Rice, Mark Schultz, Third Day etc) is scheduled for release this month.
Rivertribe, Planet Shakers and the
Parachute Band also gained significant attention at GMA performing at various artist showcases, industry luncheons or/and media interviews. To top it off, the radio and record industry trade weekly "R&R" highlighted Christian music in April. Planet Shakers and pc3 were featured in advertisements for the
Crowne Music Group and Essential
Records. |

01.05.02 - Stacie Orrico tour cancelled.
From Crossroad.
Dear friends,
Due to circumstances explained below the Stacie Orrico concert planned for May 6th has been cancelled.
There will be a show headlined by Rookie at the same time and venue for those who still want to go out and have a great night.
Please read this letter from Stacie's father, Dean Orrico.
Dear brothers and sisters,
The first time we went on a missions trip as a family, to Mexico, Stacie was six years old. I remember vividly noticing a large and noisy crowd of young children, only to find Stacie in the middle of them with her little tape player. The crowd gathered every time she came out, until one day we found her sitting on the tin roof of a shack with her headphones on. When we asked why she was up there, she sighed, "All those kids are nice, but I'm kind of tired." She had an extraordinary gift but a limited capacity because of her age.
Now, for the last four years, she has given her life to the music and teens she loves, but last week (for the first time since being called to music performance) she cried out for help. She seldom admits she needs help and is known for her work ethic and determination, but she came to me in tears and even a little fear.
She had been looking forward for months to this tour around the world, but about a month ago an extraordinary and somewhat intimidating door opened to the mainstream, signing with Virgin Records in cooperation with Forefront Records. Stacie's passion is for the "disinterested" kids of her generation, so we're convinced it was God Himself making that happen. As Virgin's expectations and deadlines and volume of activity have become clearer, the weight on Stacie has grown. The thought of traveling around the world for several weeks and coming back to the pressure of this new venture was too much. Though she doesn't often cry or relent to pressure, she cried every time I talked to her for nearly a week. Frankly, I'd never seen her like that.
Before moving to Nashville I had worked for Promise Keepers (including Director of Europe), so my awareness of the importance of keeping my word - even in the face of difficulty - is keen. And the team the Lord has provided around Stacie (her manager, Forefront, EMI/CMG, Chordant, et al) is resolute to work with integrity as well. My first thought when Stacie approached me with her fear was to encourage her to stand strong and get through it, since we knew there were many people who had invested of themselves for this tour. But eventually the "dad" took over in me - my daughter was crying out for help.
Please accept our apology for any inconvenience or personal loss this has caused you. Our hearts have been drawn outside the United States for many years so we would look forward to the opportunity in the future, as the Lord wills, to co-labor with you in the Gospel in your country, if you would allow us. Until then, I am
Your servant in Christ, Dean Orrico.
My Dear Friends,
How can I ever express my appreciation for the kindness that you have shown me during this time? I am amazed at how you have all been so supportive of our decision. I feel a bit spent, just when I will need depth the most. If you'll pray for me over this next month and a half, my hope is to get my spirit stronger, my roots deeper and my heart refilled with passion for the Lord and the task He's put in front of me. Then maybe when I get to see you I'll be more ready, more potent for Him and useful to you. I relish your forgiveness and covet your support and prayers.
Your sister in Jesus, Stacie. |
