07.03.02 - Boonah's new direction.
By Lynne Stringer - editor The Queensland Baptist.
Boonah Baptist Church has been moving in fresh directions over the past few months as it seeks to expand its ministry.
At the end of last year an After School Kids' Club was started at the church, with up to 25 children gathering for food, games, craft and Bible stories.
Kevin Forsythe from Children for Christ helped by visiting the local school to promote the club, with the support of the deputy principal. He also helped the church people arrange the activities. Please pray that the Boonah church will find a permanent leader for After School Kids' Club so the ministry can continue.
Friendship Club is also being held on a monthly basis, drawing together people who need fellowship and friendship. One of the highlights in this program so far was the visit of the Jackaroos and Jillaroos Country Gospel Band from Gatton. Other events are being planned, which will give Boonah's folk a chance to develop relationships with people who need Christ.
The local radio station, RIM FM 100.1, is helping to bring the Word of God to listeners throughout the Boonah area with broadcasts extending down to Rosewood, Ipswich and across to Jimboomba. Each Sunday from 7.00 to 9.00 am, Boonah's pastor, Merv
Vogel, presents a program called Firm Foundations, which brings foundational Bible teaching together with music and song and concludes with Grace to You with John
McArthur.
Paul Scholz and Rob and Dell Bellchambers also present other Christian programs during Sunday afternoons. |
