It is rare to find a punk band with a lead singer who can actually
sing well - but what is even more extreme is a punk band with a girl
lead whose voice has been compared to the likes of Jewel or Sarah
Mc...... !
Finally, Australia has distributed one of the finest sounding punk
bands around. Muppet is a three piece Australian punk rock band.
Their sound is most easily described as new school punk. They span
through the whole range from fast melodic punk, such as "Plankeye"
and "Zoom for the Minute", to slow pop punk, like "Go
Home". Lead singer Anna has been performing acoustically since the
age of 15 as "Anna – Queen of the Air" and is also an
ex-member of punk/ska band "Ear Candy". Larry-boy is in funk
band "Slingstone" and acoustic act "Bashiri Shukura"
. The three youngsters would always catch up at music festivals and
other similar events. They finally hooked up through a common interest
in their style and ministry focus. Muppet was formed and then began
storming Australia with their energy and impact on stage. Muppet's stage
presence is extremely hyperactive and always entertains a crowd. Muppet
now have an EP length CD called "Run for your life" and
merchandise available. Muppet have just returned form a whirlwind tour
of the Us in June/July. Future plans include another CD and to spend as
much time touring as possible.
