Alabaster Box is a 6-piece, female led rock/pop band, based on Australia's Gold Coast. Naarah's distinct vocals, and the band's groove have drawn stylistic comparisons with Michelle Branch and Sixpence None the Richer.

The band put aside their 'real jobs' and became a full-time music ministry at the start of the year 2000. Since then, Alabaster Box has won numerous awards, delivered hit after hit to Australian Christian Radio and toured in Australia, New Zealand, England and the USA.

A Family Affair
The band is self-managed. They distribute their own albums, keep their own website, manage their own press and drive their own tour bus (decked out with 6-beds, 11-seats and DVD screens). 'Love on the Radio', the AB's highly acclaimed third album was even self-produced.

Radio
Alabaster Box's first two singles of 2004: 'Love on the Radio' and 'There's Hope', were the most played songs on Christian radio in Australia (and number six in Estonia!). For much of 2004, Alabaster Box has been in the top three 'most played artists' in the country, with "There's Hope" even reaching number one on the TRAA top 30 chart for six weeks running.
Previous albums have also yielded winning radio singles, making Alabaster Box one of the top radio play bands in the country.

Awards
The band's self-titled debut album received critical acclaim winning three Sunnie Awards presented by the Queensland Recording Association.
"There's Hope", a ballad from "Love on the Radio" has recently won Australia's most prestigious song writing award: The Johnny Dennis Music Award - Best Song.

Concerts
Since 2000, the concerts have grown to what must be an inspiration to independent bands around the world. The production on their 2004; 'Love on the Radio Tour' is a knock out. Moving lights, big subs and a large projection screen provide the perfect backdrop to an energetic performance from one of Australia's finest, unsigned acts. The tour was attended by thousands, and hundreds of people made first time commitments to following Jesus.

Ministry
The heart of the band is to follow the teachings of Jesus with passion. "We believe that the gifts God has given us are to be used for God's glory and for the extension of His Kingdom", says lead singer Naarah. This belief has seen the band perform at headlining positions in the southern hemisphere's largest Christian festivals through to some of Australia's most remote outback towns.

While the band has encountered a fair degree of success, this group of pastor's kids seem largely unaffected by the music business and prefer to think in terms of souls won rather than money banked or CD's sold. As they look forward to 2005, we suspect that there will be much more of it all.
